Saab was founded in 1937, following a decision by the government and the leading industrial actors. The mission was clear; in the situation of an approaching major conflict Sweden needed to assure supply of military aircraft. The first Saab developed aircraft, B-17, took off in 1940, and ever since then Saab has created a stunning series of aircraft, unique in capability and affordability.
